If you think memo is illegal you can suggest and immpress IV to file a lawsuit. If it is clearly violation of law then filing lawsuit will not be that much costly. I see your other thread for asking opinion about fighting legally. I will be surprised if a few hundred will reply for that. This issue will be alive for a few days or weeks then IV members will forget when next VB comes

Consulting companies are just the tip of the ice burg. They should really target infy, wipro, TCS like companies. They are the one truly exploiting the sytem to the fullest. They do not sponsor GC, do not pay the good salary or any benefit to the employee. I also dont see the share holders are rewared. God knows where all the profits are going. (which holes are getting filled)?
I agree with you completely. I don't know what Infy and Wipro are doing with their money but TCS was filling Tata Motors and Tata Steel historically. Also buying companies like Land Rover and Jaguar while screwing their employees.

The point you are forgetting is you are writing in a public forum. It is not just IV members that are reading this forum. Anti-immigrant racists are closely watching this forum. They will take all the negative things you said about YOUR company, stereotype all companies and slap a memo or bill on you. That is exactly what has happened now.

chandu...have u read the lawsuit outcome? do u still think that an administrative fix is easier to achieve than a lawsuit? lets say it comes down to either/or...either a lawsuit or an administrative fix...which one would IV support?
but actually an administrative fix is a very real possibility. the administration is currently willing and friendly to this kind of action. we need to draw their attention to the urgency of the matter and the need to act quickly. a lawsuit, if it were to happen is many years away. anyway USCIS cannot recapture any GC on it's own, so it will have to wait for a final verdict and order to do anything..assuming success.
therefore i would strongly suggest promoting the admin fixes campaign at this time, we do not want to lose this opportunity. this is not an either/or situation. writing letters does not take away from any other ideas etc.

It is SRK's BIG EGO that was hurt, the fact that the officer did not "recognize" SRK - the "king khan" and made him go through a rough ordeal. That is all it is about. And to me SRK has never been an honest human being. It is all a put on appearance, whether its in his movies or real life. He is very measured and guarded when talking to the media and presents his affable side. So get over it and look at the incident for what it is - i.e, SRK's big ego burst open. Its not about American security or Indian security or racial profiling. Everyone is just trying to make it out to be that but you need to be able to see thorugh that.

I deeply care about what is happening in my motherland. But this is not the right forum to discuss these issues. Immigration voice is a organization that represents skilled immigrants seeking to emigrate to US and I believe the type of conversation in this thread is not representative of legal immigrant's views (including the majority from India). What we post on open forum is available to everyone and can be used against us in future for propaganda purposes.

lordoftherings, I doubt there is a country in the world that would fit all. I also doubt such a thing as "ideal immigration policy" exists. It is always good to have a job offer before you immigrate, but it's ultimately up to the immigrant to find out what it'll take to get on his/her feet in the new country.
After reading (and watching videos of) all those sob stories on notcanada.com and the like about doctors, nurses, engineers who can't get a job or have to study for years to get a Canadian license to practice, I wonder how much of a research those folks did prior to coming to Canada. If a medical occupation requires studying for additional time and taking exams, then you should have learned about it. If engineers of your specialty are not in high demand, you can figure it out by going through Canadian job postings and contacting employers. If you are not willing to look for a job elsewhere but Toronto, then it's your problem: perhaps in Calgary the opportunities are more readily available. I have a friend in Montreal who owns an IT recruitment company. He told me that they are sending IT folks from Ontario to Alberta, since Alberta unemployment rate for IT professionals is currently at 0.5%.
Bottom line is: research for yourself, ask different people, be flexible about where you want to live in the new country (hey, it's the country's demands you need to adjust to, not the other way around!) -- this will save you from many unpleasant surprises.

This question says how you entered the US the last time and not how you intend to in the future. My understanding is that you last traveled on your H-1 B therefore, it should say H-1B (please confirm the same with your I-94.)

I support having ongoing discussions with USCIS and having an amicable relationship with them. We should work hard to make the letter campaign successful. We have 30000 members but less than 2000 letters so far. While some volunteers are working tirelessly to make the letter campaign successful some do not want to take part in it at all because the Template's we have out there are asking for their Name, Address and Telephone Number. it is not a joke to mail out a letter to the president on which the signature of the person is not comprehendable and there is no Full Name, Adress and Telephone number. I spent hours last weekend answering people's questions about letter campaign but all I get in return is recommendations on what else I can do. There were no letters after all that. I totally support Walking_Dude on this.
Raising 30K in 7 days was possible. it was made possible by 300 members. I still remember having a conversation with a gentleman at a mela (US Citizen and a white american) who said funds should not be a problem for you guys. You have 25,000 members and you all make good money. On any day you can all contribute 10$ and raise 250k. I wish. That will be my dream come true. I am one of those volunteers who worked very tirelessly to make 30k happen in 7 days. it is fun to be an active IV volunteer. I know a few people in our Local Chapter who spend their money for local chapter activities in addition to their monthly contributions. We have less than 10 members in our chapter who do that. I can totally understand when they tell me sometimes that have been spending a lot of their own money and taking the lead this for an year and half and are getting burned and want to take a step back now since we do not have new people stepping forward to help. Atleast they promised to take part in action items for sure.
I apologize for my venting today
Buck up :) We all go through it. I never take it personally. I would definitely be happy if more and more members come forward and help, instead of "missing in action" when needed most.
We would be really happy if new members come up and take initiatives (i am now keeping my messages positive :) ) , more active members, more strength.

It's a very natural process, and it happened, happens, and will happen, and it's normal. Look at this scenario. Not to touch any nation, I would use Krakozhia as example.
Suppose you are from Krakozhia, you are pursuing American Dream, you found clients, you secured some funds and you are ready to open up a business and do something. Now you need people, you have two places to look up: American or foreign. Looking employee in the US is extremely expensive and risky business. 4 out 5 candidates will have no clue what's written in their resumes, will not want to work for you, will chill 2-3 months until you fire them, will be doing only one thing - sending resumes for a new job with better salary. Trying to hire Americans without good HR will lead your business to the dead end.
So you will look into foreign market. Where? Are you gonna go to China/Russia/India? Where you don't speak their language? Don't know local specifics? Of course you will go to your "Krakozhia", where you know people, where you know universities, and what kinda people graduate from where. So you will build a team and bring here - start working. Here is another fact - about 80% of jobs in the US people get through references. Yes, companies prefer to hire friends of employees, because they don't have to spend resources filtering people from the street. "Are you sure he is a right guy for the job?" - that's it, the guy gets hired. So, your first team will bring their friends/relatives - all "Krakozhians". And from the business point of view - it's the best way. It's not racism, not discrimination, not invasion - just business. You are just doing what is best for your business... business doesn't have races or ethnics groups. And btw, CEO is REQUIRED BY LAW to maximize profits. And US government knows and accepts that, and it's happened in the US history many times. 100/200 years ago there were Irish, German shops. 80 years ago there were Italian shops. Nothing horrible happened, they all eventually melted. I don't see anything wrong that there are Indian or Jewish, or Russian shops. They will eventually melt in and become regular American companies.

And Do you (canadian wanna be) have any clue that to get respected salary and position you will be forced by illiterate Canadians to have "Professional Engineering Certificates"... It will suck blood out of your body for 5 years... So just do not read "Greener Side" of Canadian Immigration... I know it may not be applicable to all but more or less most of will have to face the same music in their careers. My all Canadian friends and relatives want to be Americans.. Only some of them practically could proceed for that.. After some stage of life it becomes hard to move families.. That is the reason they are facing now to take decision and simultaneously do not want to live in Canada anymore.. If you have 101 fever it will take 1 month to have Doctor's appointment... GST.. Higher taxes.. statistically there are chances "Most of members of this forum - Canadian Wanna Be" will have less promotions and/or increments in salary eventhough they will find themselves most skilled wherever they will work. Top posts would be the dream for most of you guys unless you start your own business.. if you understand what I am trying to tell... In USA it is not that way.... Having said this I can not say that everybody will experience the same what I am trying to portray but most fo them will.
