I would like to see Plainspeak's project plan on his idea. The plan should detail out timeline, budget, manpower and responsibilities. Most importantly what will Plainspeak do in this plan as a responsibility.

This is an excellent analysis of why do you see so many EB based immigrants from India and not from other places...The same arguments can apply almost identically to the Chinese immigrants...

A nation has responsibility (to the extent possible in case of those not residing within its borders) for protecting its citizens.
Once you give up the citizenship of your country of origin, your allegiance, and therefore the expectation of "protection", should be towards and from the country of your citizenship, not from a "foreign government".

I tried to determine, on a separate thread, the wait times for EB-2 India, EB-3 ROW, and EB-3 India.
ANd I failed miserably. My models didn't make much sense. So I quit trying to come up with a reasonable, mathematical, estimate on the wait times.
The reason I was trying to determine wait times, was so that I could then convince people to join and contribute for IV. Basically, a media campaign, geared towards our base.
Anyway, the point of this post is this. I don't need reasonable, mathematical estimates. Maybe, all I need is a quote. A quote from someone knowledgeable, like Aman. Or some lawyers association. Some chimpanzee from USCIS. I don't know. Just something that says 'It will take 10-15 years for EB-3 India to get their greencards.' Or something like that for EB-3 ROW/EB-2 India.

My dependents are out of US for almost 5 months for now and they have AP approved before they left US and they are planning to come to US in couple of weeks from now on AP. Our PD is going to be current in Aug08. Is this OK to be out of US for this much time when AOS is pending? Staying out of US for this long would effect their AOS processing in any way?

America is about freedom and liberty and is a law abiding country. Country caps is discrimination with people of two countries which have almost half of the population in the world. I am not saying increase visas for India or China. I am only saying increase the total number of visas and then make the system FIFO so that every skilled person in this world have same access to immigration.

Canada immigration is simple & straight forward.
No expensive lawyers are required or any lengthy procedures. Just self do. Also look at the currency rate of US and Canada almost same... Tax is a little high but medical is fully covered.
You need to fill forms,send all your education, papers etc and LO ! you are done and get PR Card. Some of my friends got it in less than 2 yrs.

Try to fight it out as long as you can...And believe me not everbody's grapes are sour yet.

What can go wrong...many things can go wrong.. you do not know and many things cannot be proved.. With myself it already happened.. In year 2001 Bubble burst my then employer gave me a choice to move to Canada ( Exactly Microsoft kind of public declaration.. Company is also very prestigious and more or less you can consider it of the size of Microsoft).... I took decision not to go and so I was out of the company.. Some friends went there.. after 2 years laid off.. Those 2 years they got American salary on Canadian land (Dream, huh !!!!!!!!) ,, But then what after lay off.. One of them had to sit 6 months to get proper job.. Way less salary... Can this happen to everybody? May not be..But the bottom line is you will have to fiight out the hurdles.. Here you have GC Process hurdle.. In canada you may not have that but you may be having other 100 hurdles... What will you do then? WIll you go to Australia? ...There are 600 countries so at the most you can do 600 migrations :-) By the way both of my friends now want to come back to USA after getting citizenship and their families do not want to move as they have mentally fed up with this move from country to country.. My analysis from those mdb files: (they are tricky because the data is for FY2005 while the priority date calculations we are doing are for the calendar year)
calendar year 2005 ( received date between 3/19/2005 - 12/31/2005) = 8645
year 2006 (rcv date between 1/1/2006 - 9/27/2006) = 15008
after this it gets bad since the data has no receipt date, only certified date. my estimate is around 12000 for those 3 months of 2006.(total number of certified PERMs between 10/2/2006 - 03/31/2007 = 13873)
total PERM approvals with PD between march 2005 and Dec 2006 ~ 37000
If EB2 is 50%, we are talking ~19000, with an avg of 2.5 GCs per PERM, we need 47,500 GCs between Mar 05 and Jan 07.

Sorry for the clich� "United we stand divided we fall". Let us be careful and have meaningful dialogue especially when we take up contentious issues that might pit one member against another. IV stands for improving EB based immigration for all irrespective of the country of birth. Please note that there are several outside folks vying to split the group and we do not need to do it internally. I feel that this discussion has come up at misopportune time. Just recall the same kind of discussion that came from folks that had missed the July fiasco last year.
Let us not forget our "primary" goals and harp on minor irritants.

great to see someone welcoming immigrants. My wife is a dentist, licensed in one state of the USA. However she does not have a US DDS. She was licensed by the state as she has great experience and she passed all the tests needed. She has been very well practising dentistry for almost 2.5-3 years now in the US. However, Canada does not let internationally trained dentists get licensed without going to Canadian/American dental school. If you know of any place in CA which would license my wife as she has more than 7 years of exp (4+in India, alomst 3 in USA) and had passed all exams (Board, licensing etc etc), please let me know. That is the single most imp reason for me to still hang im here.

Temporarily, or permanent, I hope it works out.
Every country has its warts. (Mine has them too) but the immigrants to a country are what give it life.
For the Doctors, check out some rural areas various provinces. I think they have programs that ease the regulatory burden.

I had that kind of goal too...But after 5-6 years the considerations change....
Also all arguments came out of UnitedNations unfortunately are already present and deep seated in a very large %age of our compatriots....That is the main reason behind the less mobilization......
Also the situations are changing in homeland...The value of a green card had dropped in the eyes of a large number of people....This situation of people lining up for green cards would change in a few years...especially if the economic growth keeps the tempo it has....

A lot of people, including me have lost faith in IV. They are not going to pay. We don't know what IV is working on and we don't believe it can do anything. The sooner IV accepts it, the better. I have seen this personally in talking to people and you can see the evidence with less than 300 people contributing. IV needs to produce results first.
And today, some of our members, when they call us, block their caller ID. God knows what they are afraid of.

A lot of people, including me have lost faith in IV. They are not going to pay. We don't know what IV is working on and we don't believe it can do anything. The sooner IV accepts it, the better. I have seen this personally in talking to people and you can see the evidence with less than 300 people contributing. IV needs to produce results first.
And today, some of our members, when they call us, block their caller ID. God knows what they are afraid of.
